CTFs are great!
I have been learning hacking for about two years now and uptill now it wasn't very interesting because I was just learning and watching other people hack which was thrilling but that thrill was never enough. I always thought CTFs were tough and that I wouldn't be able to solve even one of them with my level of skills so I never played them before but recently I discovered a very intuitive website which taught Penetration testing for free and had some machines to practice those hacks on, they have about 40 different machines for you to hack and they are completely free the site is PwnTillDawn it is really a great website for practicing your skills as a penetration tester. Though I was able to hack into and gain access into some of the machines but most of them I couldn't hack, my skill just wasn't there yet. Now I knew the thrill and the rush of hacking into a system by my self and it was better than anything I have experienced yet so, not being able to hack into most of the pwntilldawn machines I started to look for some beginner CTFs and that's when I found picoCTF. It is a beginner friendly CTF(Capture the Flag) it starts from the basics and covers some advanced topics like reverse engeneering and binary exploitation. It forces you to research about topics to solve the problems thus helping you learn new things that you may have never discovered quite a nice place to start really.
